Lima, OH - The Lima Locos have really been on a roll here of late. The help has been coming from all areas of the team. Cory Wilder leads the team and league with 35 strike outs and only has given up 8 runs in 5 of his starts, Wilder is not the only pitcher having success. Austin Sexton who only has 1 win to show for his 4 starts and has still been just as impressive on the mound, keeping his opponents batting average below .250 in his starts. The Locos bullpen has also been for the most part lights out, and they have sealed a lot of games in the 7th, 8th, 9th innings within this long stretch of games. Then you have Lewis, Carlson, Garner, and DJ. Smith all hitting above .300 right now for the Locos. Garner leads the league with 5 homeruns and his teammate lewis is right behind him with 3 of his own. Garner, Ingram, and Smith also are the top three RBI producing players in the lineup combining for 52 of the teams 71 RBI's. The defense has got better throughout the season, still though is a weakness of the team.
Overall, the Locos control their own destiny, the hitters are finding their groove and expect the pitching to stay consistent. The Locos are 3 games back going into a double header today with the Xenia Scouts and then are back home the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th of July. If the Locos have their way, they could be leading the league just before the All-Star Break.
